Description

Celebrating the many forms of Sfincione, the original "Sicilian Pizza"and precursor to Philadelphia Tomato Pie, and other American room temperature bakery pizzas. We tried most of these in Sicily, except for the St. Vito and the incredible-looking Bagherese.

Mostly what I learned is that Sfincione is NOT just one thing, from the "Street Style" which is shockingly close to the Philadelphia version, to crazy umami-bomb Sfincione layered with anchovy and multiple preparations of onion, and versions loaded with primosale or caciocavallo cheese, all delicious in their own right.

Each print is a 12" x 18" gallery quality giclee in glorious full color, printed by Katie Tackman in Philadelphia. Also available as a set of all 3.

This project is several months in the making, and really several years (decades??) of traveling, eating, writing about and researching the unique culinary tradition of cold, square Italian bakery pizza (and its adjacent forms) that reaches from Palermo to South Philly. Ships in 1-2 weeks!
